Details of Experience:

Patient was admitted to The Phoenix Rehabilitation & Nursing Center after staying at Kings County Hospital Center from a motorcycle accident.

Patient received PT and OT 5 days ago week. He didn’t want to receive the service on Saturday because he wanted his weekend off. He came with no weight bearing, which means he can’t put any weight on his legs. First we gave him a regular walker just for transferring himself from the wheelchair to the bed.

During the first month, he regained his strength from practicing on parallel bars. When therapy thought he was ready for the next step, then we started him exercising on crutches. Now he’s doing stair exercises with crutches also.

He attended occupational therapy to improve ADL self care, bed mobility, and functional mobility.

During his stay, instead of eating in his room, he ate in our main dining room with other residents. He also participated in all of our activities from our recreation department.

Upon discharge great improvements had been made in his ability to perform self care, ambulate, and transfer.
