Maria earned her bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from the University of the Philippines, the premier state university of her home country. She began her occupational therapy career as an educator, preparing aspiring therapists to pass their PT/OT board examinations. Having cared for her grandmother with Alzheimer’s disease, Maria found her true calling in senior care. Prior to joining The Phoenix Rehabilitation and Nursing Center team, Maria successfully managed the rehabilitation departments of two of the largest facilities in New York. Maria is a visionary leader who has the unique ability to anticipate the needs of the residents, her therapy team, and other disciplines she works alongside. Her peers often share her admiring talent for bringing out the best in those around her. Her commitment to service and excellence is complemented by her quest for competence and knowledge. Maria is also a certified resident assessor (RAC-CT) and QAPI Certified Professional. Maria makes time to enjoy her hobbies, which include calligraphy, reading, running, and yoga.
