How did this patient hear about The Phoenix? Hospital Social Worker
Reason for stay: Post-operative care following an MCA aneurysm rupture
Details of Experience:
Ms. H is a lively 52-year-old woman who was first admitted to The Phoenix Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in November of 2025. Ms. H had suffered an MCA aneurysm rupture that required a right decompressive hemicraniectomy, and when she needed to select a rehab center to recuperate after her surgery, she selected The Phoenix.
Immediately after arrival at The Phoenix, the Concierge, Oren, welcomed Ms. H. and the staff gave her a warm welcome. Upon admission, Ms. H required maximum assistance from physical therapy to work on improving her balance, endurance, mobility, and strength. Additionally, she required maximum occupational therapy assistance with all activities of daily living, such as dressing and personal grooming.
Because of the stroke, she was only able to use her right arm, so it was quite an adjustment for her. One of her main goals for her stay here was to regain her health and strength to the highest degree possible, as she was adapting to the new reality of being able to use one arm, and return to the community, which motivated her every single day.
By January, Ms. H was making strides in both her Physical and Occupational Therapy. She was able to walk 20 feet with a walker and maximum assistance, and she improved her activities of daily living by being able to feed herself with supervision. Ms H. was seen during her down time rolling herself in her wheelchair throughout the community and providing a warm smile and greeting to fellow patients and staff.
Ms. H progressed through hard work each and every day, soon walking 125 feet with a walker and supervision, lifting weights, and riding the exercise bike, surpassing all expectations of our therapy staff. Ms. H was also able to complete activities of daily living, such as dressing and personal grooming with supervision. The therapy team has mentioned how much of an inspiration Ms. H was to fellow patients and staff throughout her journey here.
By April time, after nearly a half year here at The Phoenix, due to her tireless hard work, the staff at The Phoenix determined that Ms. H would be able to safely return to the community after her planned follow-up procedure. The social work department at The Phoenix arranged for Ms. H to return home.
We wish her a happy and healthy remainder of 2026 and much success on hr continuing healthcare journey.!
