Dr. Saimamba Veeramachaneni is a Board-Certified Internist, Cardiologist, and Director of Clinical Cardiology at The Brooklyn Hospital Center. She is an active member of the American College of Cardiology, the New York Cardiological Society, American Medical Association, and the Medical Society of the County of Kings, which jointly with The Academy of Medicine of Brooklyn, honored her with “The Award of Excellence for Outstanding Dedication and Contribution to the Medical Profession.”
Dr. Sai (as she is known professionally) attended Osmania Medical College in India. At The Brooklyn Hospital Center, she completed her Internal Medicine Residency, followed by a Fellowship in Cardiology, becoming one of the first women in New York to achieve this distinction. She served as a professor of Sports Medicine at Long Island University and is actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and cardiology fellows at The Brooklyn Hospital Center.
Dr. Sai proudly serves her community in both New York and India. As a medical advisor to the Sonny Archer Foundation, she prevents hypertension-related deaths among New York Law Enforcement officers. Dr. Sai established sponsors and attends a year-round medical clinic in India, which provides free primary healthcare to the less privileged. As a Trustee and Vice-President on the Board of Trustees of the Hindu Temple Society of North America, she raised funds, conducted the Annual Health Fair, and organized youth activities and education.
Having served on numerous Brooklyn Hospital Center committees with distinction over the past thirty years, Dr. Sai had a tremendous impact as President of the Professional Staff and Chairperson of the Medical Board at The Brooklyn Hospital Center. Her active involvement with the American Heart Association project, “Get with the Guidelines for Congestive Heart Failure” helped The Brooklyn Hospital Center earn Gold Plus Recognition and national acclaim through U.S. News and World Report.
Dr. Sai enjoys a rich family life with her husband Dr. Prabhakar Veeramachaneni, an anesthesiologist, their two sons (both born at The Brooklyn Hospital Center), and three beautiful grandchildren. Through the years, patient testimonials cite her “dedication,” “clear, direct multidisciplinary approach,” and “supportive, caring personality.” She has been called “a fine physician par excellence.” A tireless advocate for health and humanity, Dr. Sai is truly a cardiologist with “heart.”
